When the guys at Sonic Union contacted The Weld House needing an interior sign to hang in their lobby, a collaborative effort began between the two creative companies. Using the colors and textures of both their website and office interior as inspiration, we chose the earth-tone colors of reclaimed automotive sheetmetal to clad the steel frame of their sign. With the sheetmetal welded in place and four coats of clear coat, we used their llustrator® logo to laser cut 1/8th inch aluminum plate. Spacing the character off the signs surface gives an added dimension. A plasma cut piece of red sheetmetal in the shape of their star finishes out what was a really fun project. Twin connecting rods suspend this sign from their concrete ceiling. Next trip to NYC, we look forward to meeting these guys in person.
